In late 2013, Dr. Joseph Mancini, Jr., Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, conducted a series of radio interviews on VoiceAmerica with experts in the field of past lives, past-life regression, and consciousness studies. In this book created from that series of interviews, Dr. Mancini first relates his own practices and tips for achieving a successful past-life regression and finding an appropriate regressionist; then he interviews three of his clients about the healing that past-life regression can provide. Next he discusses the positive and negative implications of what he calls the “old,” time-bound, cause-and-effect notion of Karma that tends to focus on what amounts to predetermined punishment for transgressions committed earlier in the present or in a past life. Opposing this view is a different notion of how present-life arrangements are related to past-life deeds as a pattern of freely-chosen contracts/choices made with others to try out a different path. Following the chapter on Karma are ten other chapters devoted to the different contexts in which practitioners have accessed past lives; these include interviews focused on Children’s Past Lives with Carol Bowman, Past Lives and Attached Entities with Greg McHugh, Soul Contracts with Linda Baker, Past-Life Regression with Intact Groups with Janet Cunningham, Past Lives and Natal Regression with Tim Simmerman-Sierra, Past-Life Regression to Capture Lost History with Joanna Prentis and Stuart Wilson, Edgar Cayce and Past Lives in Atlantis with Nancy Eubel, Past Lives and Life-Between-Lives with Dee Chips, and Research on the Positive Effects of Past-Life Regression with Heather S. Friedman Rivera. Throughout the text and Endnotes, Dr. Mancini comments on the materials presented from the point of view of Seth, that “energy personality essence” channeled by Jane Roberts from 1963 to her death in 1984. Making this perspective even more concrete are the interviews with two of Jane’s ESP students, Rich Kendall and the late Lawrence Davidson, who share what it was like to have Seth comment on several of their own past lives. This book will appeal greatly to followers of Seth, those interested in the expansion of consciousness, those curious about past lives and related matters, and novice and experienced practitioners of past-life regression.

One of the useful ideas Edgar Cayce provided about the scientific process as a personal epistemology is to learn how to use comparisons as a means of investigation and knowledge production. Quite naturally, then, Dr. Mancini, being of the scientific cultural mindset, when he wanted to explore the value of past life awareness, that he chose to reach out and compare what experienced folks had to say about it, and to relate that to his own experiences. The result is a series of interviews, transcripts of a radio show, in which Joseph discusses various topics related to past lives, regression, alternate realities, etc. The experts cover a wide ranging diversity of orientations. It is one of the few places where I’ve found the works of Edgar Cayce and the Seth material side by side. A good reference book, and great if you wanted to teach a class on the subject.
This was an excellent resource on many topics related to past life regression. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and I look forward to reading the author’s new book coming soon. In the interim I have started reading publications that the people who were interviewed for the book wrote, to gain more information on this fascinating subject.
I bought this book before my first past-life regression, primarily to learn more about the process and better understand what to expect. But this fascinating, enlightening book gave me so much more than that. The book explores a wide array of topics with the material presented in an interview format that is comfortable to read and easy to comprehend. I started reading the book thinking that past-life regression was one thing, but finished with a greatly expanded understanding of its richness, complexity and power. Thank you, Dr. Joe!
Wow, this is thoughtful book carefully constructed to share transcripts of interviews wiith field experts alongside the author's insights and reflections. I am impressed with the range of topics covered The material is written in a highly accessible fashion wiith little jargon. While Dr. Mancini is clearly enthusiastic for his subject, the book tries mostly to describe and differentiate the range of past life experiences, rather than persuade or promise the reader any particular experience. The book concludes with two particuarly helpful Appendices with tips on having a productive past-life expeirence and grounding exercises for spiritual journeying.
